Maria became a freelance photographer in 2011 and has been busy shooting editorials for clients such as Llamas Valley, Time-Out, 1st Dibs, Uitkrant & A-Mag magazine. Maria is also familiar with modeling and acting which helped her develop a keen sense of human nature and personalities that clearly reflect in her favorite work – portraits. Shooting with the soul in mind, Maria meticulously crafts balance between subject & space, textures & colours. Because she understands that the message is not only in the image, itself, but in the pixels in between. And with 10 years invested into her business, Maria discovered that being behind the lens wasn’t all she could do with her passion and her drive. So she became more than the photographer. Maria proudly stepped into the role of Creative Lead. Her love of concept allows her to help people plan, map out, and execute successful shoots that bring their souls happiness, their clients pouring in, and their company’s money. We are on mission to change the world and so our next step is working with NGO’s, sending some of our profits to organizations that are making change in the world, as well. We are making change with our own hands and quality for us means more than quantity, so we prefer to teach two kids valuable skills than give money to “Greenpeace” from the comfort of our own couches and “help” that way. I am making a change, but for that, I need to “put the mask on myself first” before serving others in that way. This book marks a milestone in a five year journey across the globe to seek out the special few with this condition. Heterochromia is not just a physical condition where the melatonin in each eye differs but, as I discovered on this journey, its roots lie deep within their characters and identities. Just like the duality of their eyes, these characters have spent their lifetimes either celebrated for their beauty or shunned as freaks, often both.As an artist I so desperately wanted to see the world through their eyes, and in these 5 years I got more than I bargained for. Their stories painted a duo tone world for me that enriched me as a person. I hope with this book I can share that with you too, just look into their eyes…
